*** About Sutro Baths: The Sutro Baths, once a large, privately owned public saltwater swimming pool complex in the Lands End area of the Outer Richmond District in western San Francisco, California, were built in the late 19th century by the wealthy entrepreneur Adolph Sutro. Designed in a grandiose style to accommodate thousands of visitors at once, the structure included seven different pools and an array of diversions, including concerts and restaurants. Although the baths were closed and largely destroyed by fire in 1966, the ruins remain a popular attraction, now managed by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, offering visitors a glimpse into San Francisco's splendid past.
